Pineda to the Yankees!

Pineda mania was short lived in Seattle.  The Mariners have agreed to send right-hander Michael Pineda to New York in exchange for top prospect Jesus Montero, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reports.  The Mariners will also get right-hander Hector Noesi, while right-hander Jose Campos goes the Yankees, Heyman reports.

Mariner fans have been screaming for a big bat all offseason.  Is Montero the answer?  Montero has some success in a handful of big league games last year, hitting .326 with an OPS of .996 in just 18 games.  In 109 minor league games in 2011 (AAA) he hit 18 HR with an OPS of .815.

i like the trade based on the depth of M's other pitching prospects. Montero looks like a fine young hitter. Hopefully he can also field but if he only proves to be a home run hitter who strikes out a lot we have improved the team immensely especially surrounded by our other young and upcoming hitters. And there's still another month of wheeling-dealing to go. i like our chances for 2013.

It might work out. I have been a loyal M's fan but it seems like we always send away players that become superstars and the player we get in return ends up not so good once in Seattle. We had a great 1-2 punch with Felix/Pineda. Hope I'm wrong this time and Montero works out but Pineda was great last year and will be with the Yanks.
